Certifying Board for Dietary Managers (CBDM)
Quarterly Update - January 2026
Dear INSERT_FIRST_NAME,

As we step into 2026, we proudly reflect on a remarkable milestone as 2025 marked the 40th anniversary of the CBDM Certification Program. Since its inception in 1985 and accreditation in 1989, CBDM has set the gold standard for excellence in foodservice management. From the early days of paper-and-pencil exams to today’s streamlined computer-based testing, CBDM has continually evolved while remaining steadfast in its commitment to advancing nutrition and foodservice management knowledge, promoting food safety, and strengthening the credibility of the profession.

Cheers to honoring our past, celebrating this achievement, and looking ahead to many more years of empowering CDM, CFPP professionals. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey!

Making Recertification Simple: Your Guide to Staying Credentialed

Recertification is an essential part of maintaining your CDM, CFPP credential, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little planning and the right tools, you can stay organized, informed, and on track. Here are some practical ways to make the process manageable and keep your certification active:

  • Keep Your Contact Information Up to Date: Ensure your ANFP record is current. A personal email address is best, so you never miss important updates or reminders.

  • Know Your Recertification Timeline: Check the end date of your three-year recertification period and review your progress anytime on the My Certification page. This is also where you’ll report on continuing new education (CE).

  • Review the CBDM Guide to Maintaining Your CDM, CFPP Credential: This guide outlines all requirements, policies, and helpful information.

Earn CE Through Volunteer Leadership

Did you know you can earn continuing education (CE) credits by serving in a volunteer leadership role?

Here's what you need to know:
  • Activities must be conducted through an organization that aligns with the CDM, CFPP scope of practice.
  • The role must be leadership-level and non-compensated.
  • You can earn up to 2 CE per year, with a maximum of 6 CE in a three-year recertification period.
Examples include:
  • Being an ANFP Mentor
  • Serving on a committee or board
When reporting CE, select Volunteer Leadership category and be ready to include:

  • Pace Yourself Throughout the Year: Aim for 15 CE hours annually so you are not scrambling at the end of your cycle.

  • Download the ANFP App: Easily update your information, report CE, and upload documents right from your mobile device.

  • Pay Your Annual Certification fees: Pay all renewal invoices by August 31, 2026, to keep your credential active and avoid late fees

  • Find CE That Works for You: Use ANFP’s Find CE tool to search for learning options that match your interest and learning needs.

  • Review Audit FAQs: The CE Audit FAQs answers common questions and helps you prepare.
