New Policy Update - More Flexibility for Reporting Books as CE!

CBDM Certification Process

We’re excited to announce an important update to the CBDM CE policy!

Effective June 1, 2025, CDM, CFPPs may now submit multiple books for CE credit during their 3-year recertification period. Each book can be reported for up to 6 CE hours, and there is no longer a limit on the number of books that can be submitted.

CE Credit for Books – Requirements
Requests for CE credit based on book reading must meet the following criteria:
  • Content must relate to the CDM, CFPP Scope of Practice
  • Publication date must be within the past five years
  • A maximum of 6 CE hours may be earned per book
Required Documentation
When reporting books for CE crredit, the following must be submitted:
  • Title page of the book
  • Copyright page
  • Outline or table of contents
  • A brief summary of the book's purpose, along with written summary of what was learned and how it applies to the industry
  • Or a certificate of completion from a CBDM prior approved provider
This policy update provides increased flexibility in maintaining your credential, supports ongoing professional development, and encourages deeper engagement with industry-relevant topics.

CBDM Releases 2025 Scope of Practice

We’ve been talking about the CBDM Certification Program meeting the rigorous accreditation requirements of the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), and what that means for us as credential holders, and we’ve outlined the process to earn that prestigious recognition. Now you can reap more benefits from this feather in the proverbial cap as well.

One result of the process is a new Exam Content Outline, derived from the Job Analysis Survey that all CDM, CFPPs were invited to participate in. The new CDM, CFPP Credentialing Exam, based on the updated content outline, launched on March 1, 2025.

Also derived from the new Exam Content Outline, is an updated CDM, CFPP Scope of Practice. This revised document is aligned with the five domain areas in the exam content outline, and identifies competencies and associated tasks in each domain, that a CDM, CFPP is qualified to competently perform.

Credential holders are encouraged to use the CDM, CFPP Scope of Practice as a guide when discussing their role with stakeholders, including employers, surveyors, and consultants.

Coming soon…

The CBDM Standards of Practice are also being updated. Also utilizing the Scope of Practice and the Exam Content Outline, 16 new practice standards are in development.
